Even as we’ve led the nation with ambitious policy, our energy supply remains limited and increasingly expensive. Meanwhile, federal clean energy incentives have been sharply reduced under the current Administration, leaving major state projects—from offshore wind to housing construction—facing delays. The result: high costs, unmet targets, and rising demand.

Massachusetts is not alone. States like California, New York, and Vermont are reassessing their energy approach in light of affordability and supply challenges. As Governor Healey has acknowledged, “Massachusetts and the Northeast need more energy supply for reliability and to lower energy bills.”
It’s time to confront our new energy reality—and ensure our policies reflect both our ambitions and our responsibilities to families, workers, and businesses.
